The Democratic Republic of Congo is a country in Central Africa. It is the fourth most populous country

in Africa and the most populous French-speaking country. 

The commune of Kinshasa is a commune in the north of the city of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is located south of the town of Gombe and boulevard du 30 juin.

It is bounded to the north by the Kinshasa zoological garden, to the west, avenue Luambo Makiadi separates it from Barumbu, to the south, avenue de la Funa separates it from Kalamu, to the west, avenue des huileries marks the limit with Lingwala.

Existing from the foundation of Léopoldville, the place became with BarumbuKet Lingwala part of the native city developed at the beginning of the 20th century. The place was linked in the 1940s to the historic heart of Léopoldville, today located in Kintambo, by the boulevard du 30 juin. It gave its name to the whole city in 1966.

The commune now houses several institutions in the city of Kinshasa, as well as the Grand Marché, the Somba Zikita Zoological Garden market and the Martyrs Stadium.
